Job Summary
The Senior Business Analyst leads requirements definition, drives data validation strategy, and owns quality assurance activities across the full SDLC. This role serves as the primary BA voice on complex, cross-functional initiatives - working closely with the Product Owner, stakeholders, and engineering teams to ensure features are strategically aligned, clearly defined, and delivered with measurable business value. A significant component of this role involves leading the onboarding of new clients - from initial requirements discovery through go-live validation - serving as the central BA coordinator across internal teams and client stakeholders.
 
The Senior BA operates within a modern, API-first data pipeline environment spanning Snowflake, Azure, and Power BI, and is expected to independently navigate technical conversations about data flows, system integrations, and automated workflows. This role operates with a high degree of autonomy, mentors less experienced analysts, and continuously improves the team's approach to capturing, refining, and validating requirements.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Story Refinement
  • Lead story refinement sessions with the Product Owner and business stakeholders, setting the standard for acceptance criteria quality and requirements clarity across the team.
  • Break down high-level product features into clear, detailed, and testable requirements - and establish repeatable patterns and templates for doing so at scale.
  • Own end-to-end documentation strategy, including user flows, UI designs, edge cases, and validation logic; develop and maintain standards for the broader BA practice.
  • Anticipate downstream impacts of requirements decisions on integrated systems, data pipelines, and dependent workflows before stories enter development.
Analysis & Data Investigation
  • Independently design and execute data investigations using SQL in Snowflake, spanning data mart domains including Claims, Disputes, Invoices, Customers & Entity, and Benchmark data.
  • Define the analytical approach for validating feature assumptions and diagnosing complex system behavior across the ingestion pipeline - from raw data lake inputs through to API service layer outputs.
  • Identify and escalate patterns or anomalies in data that impact workflows, automation rules, or downstream systems - delivering findings with clear recommendations, not just observations.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts by owning the data and system investigation, coordinating findings across engineering, QA, and business stakeholders.
Client Onboarding & Implementation
  • Serve as the primary BA resource during new client onboarding, leading requirements gathering sessions to understand client-specific data structures, workflows, and business rules.
  • Translate client needs into clearly defined configuration requirements, data mapping specifications, and acceptance criteria for the technical team.
  • Manage onboarding documentation and ensure client-specific segmentation, data domains, and workflow configurations are accurately captured and validated before go-live. 
Testing & QA Support
  • Own the UAT strategy for assigned features or initiatives, including defining test scenarios, coordinating participants, and ensuring outcomes are documented and acted on.
  • Collaborate with QA to establish test cases that fully reflect requirements, edge cases, and integration touchpoints across connected systems.
  • Validate production changes and lead regression testing efforts where business logic or data pipeline behavior is impacted.
  • Serve as the final business-side sign-off on feature readiness before release, escalating blockers or quality risks proactively.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Serve as the primary liaison and trusted advisor between business SMEs and the technical team, proactively managing alignment and resolving conflicting priorities before they impact delivery.
  • Lead or facilitate sprint ceremonies, including grooming, planning, and demos - often setting the agenda and driving decisions in the room.
  • Ensure end-to-end traceability of features from concept through delivery and post-release validation.
  • Translate complex data pipeline and integration concepts (APIs, message bus, workflow orchestration) into clear business language for non-technical stakeholders - and vice versa.
  • Mentor and support junior or mid-level Business Analysts, providing guidance on requirements, best practices, documentation standards, and stakeholder management.
  • Drive continuous improvement of BA processes, tooling, and team workflows - identifying gaps and proposing solutions with measurable impact.
 
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent professional work experience.
Experience
  • 7-10+ years of experience in business analysis, software implementation, or a closely related role, with demonstrated ownership of complex, cross-functional initiatives from discovery through delivery. 
  • Experience working within data-intensive or integration-heavy technical environments is strongly preferred. 
  • Healthcare or healthcare technology industry experience preferred, not required.

Technical Skills
  • Proficiency in project management and documentation tools (e.g., Confluence, Jira, Azure DevOps)
  • Experience creating application UI mockups/wireframes required at this level
  • Deep working knowledge of Agile/Scrum SDLC; experience operating as a BA across multiple concurrent sprint teams preferred
  • Familiarity with API concepts, data integration workflows, or healthcare interoperability standards (e.g., HL7, FHIR) is a plus
 
Soft Skills
  • Proven ability to facilitate requirements workshops and drive alignment across technical and non-technical stakeholders at all levels, including executive audiences.
  • Skilled at navigating ambiguity in complex, fast-moving environments; able to independently prioritize and deliver across multiple workstreams without close supervision.
  • Strong written communication skills - able to produce documentation that is clear, concise, and actionable for both technical and business audiences.
  • Comfortable operating at the intersection of business process and technical systems, with a natural curiosity for understanding how data moves and transforms across a pipeline.
