Job Summary
The Business Analyst is responsible for contributing to the development and implementation of software applications by refining requirements, validating data, and supporting testing activities. This role works closely with the Product Owner, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams throughout the full SDLC to ensure features are clearly defined, testable, and aligned with business needs. A significant component of this role involves supporting the onboarding of new clients - from requirements gathering through go-live validation - working alongside senior team members to coordinate across internal teams and client stakeholders. 
 
The BA operates within a modern, API-first data pipeline environment spanning Snowflake, Azure, and Power BI, requiring comfort navigating technical conversations about data flows, system integrations, and automated workflows. The BA operates independently on well-defined initiatives and is expected to manage their own workload across sprint cycles with minimal oversight.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Story Refinement
  • Collaborate with the Product Owner and business stakeholders to refine user stories, acceptance criteria, and feature definitions.
  • Break down high-level product features into clear, detailed, and testable requirements.
  • Contribute to and maintain documentation supporting development, including user flows, UI designs, edge cases, and validation logic - following standards and templates established by senior team members.
  • Flag potential downstream impacts, requirements decisions on integrated systems, and dependent workflows when identified.
Analysis & Data Investigation
  • Use SQL in Snowflake to validate data and support feature assumptions across data mart domains including Claims, Disputes, Invoices, Customers & Entity, and Benchmark data.
  • Identify patterns or anomalies in data that impact workflows or automation rules and communicate findings clearly to the team.
  • Support troubleshooting efforts by investigating data and system behavior, summarizing results for engineering and business stakeholders.
Testing & QA Support
  • Collaborate with QA to define and verify test cases aligned to requirements, including edge cases and integration touchpoints across connected systems.
  • Support user acceptance testing by preparing test scenarios, coordinating participants, and capturing feedback.
  • Validate production changes and assist in regression testing where business logic or data pipeline behavior is impacted. 
Client Onboarding & Implementation
  • Play an active supporting role during new client onboarding, participating in requirements gathering sessions to document client-specific data structures, workflows, and business rules.
  • Contribute to data mapping specifications and configuration requirements for the technical team.
  • Maintain onboarding documentation to ensure client-specific workflows and configurations are accurately captured before go-live.
  • Coordinate with internal teams including engineering, QA, and customer success to support onboarding timelines and manage client expectations.
  • Assist with post-onboarding validation to confirm that client data is flowing correctly through the ingestion pipeline and that business rules are behaving as expected.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Serve as a bridge between business SMEs and the technical team, ensuring both sides understand what is needed and why.
  • Participate actively in sprint ceremonies including grooming, planning, and demos.
  • Maintain traceability of features from concept through delivery and validation.
  • Develop working familiarity with data pipeline and integration concepts - including APIs, message bus, and workflow orchestration - sufficient to support clear communication across technical and business audiences.
  • Identify opportunities to improve support processes and system usability through documentation improvements and feedback loops.
 
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field - or equivalent professional work experience.
 
Experience
  • 4 - 7+ years of experience in business analysis, software implementation, or a closely related role.
  • Experience working within data-intensive or integration-heavy technical environments preferred.
  • Healthcare or healthcare technology industry experience preferred, not required.
 
Technical Skills
  • Proficiency in project management and documentation tools such as Confluence, Jira, or Azure DevOps.
  • Experience creating application UI mockups or wireframes preferred.
  • Solid working knowledge of Agile and Scrum SDLC practices.
  • Familiarity with Snowflake or similar cloud data warehouse platforms and the ability to write SQL queries for data validation.
  • Exposure to API-driven architectures and messaging systems sufficient to understand and document service interactions.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Azure application ecosystems and Power BI or similar reporting tools preferred.
 
Soft Skills
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and business teams.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and deliver consistently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
  • Genuine curiosity for understanding how data moves and transforms across a pipeline.
